Owned and operated by Elysabeth Kleinhans Theatrical Foundation—a not-for-profit operating foundation—59E59 Theaters is a lively venue with a 195-seat theater, a 99-seat theater and a 40-60 seat flexible theater. We present a year-round curated program of about 34 Off-Broadway productions that are nurtured and supported through highly subsidized rental rates that include: technical, ticketing, FOH, marketing & advertising, facilities, and press services.

CURRENT JOB OPENINGS

Facilities Manager

The Facilities Manager is responsible for the upkeep of our physical plant and overall cleanliness of our four-story, 15,000 square foot building. In alignment with our Community Agreement, the Facilities Manager will uphold 59E59’s mission, our dedication to inclusion, diversity, equity and accessibility (IDEA) in the workplace, and our commitment to be an anti-racist organization.

Reports to: Managing Director 

Hours: Daytime, 5 days a week- may include Saturday and/or Sunday

Manages: 2 FT staff

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervision of Fire Alarms and Sprinkler Systems 
  • Knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting a plus
  • Supervise and participate in cleaning of offices, theaters, bathrooms and public areas
  • Hiring contractors to undertake building maintenance projects
  • Coordinate building maintenance contractors for elevator, fire systems, HVAC, etc.
  • Build and maintain relationships with peer organizations and external vendors
  • Lead by example, motivate and empower your team to excel 
  • Establish collaborative relationships with other departments
  • Participate in Annual 360 Review Process
  • Additional duties as assigned by Managing Director

Qualifications:

  • Must acquire FDNY Certificates of Fitness S95 Supervision of Fire Alarms and S12 Supervision of Sprinkler Systems
  • Experience managing others a plus
  • Able to work independently and communicate clearly 

Salary: $1,127 per week

Usher (Part-Time)

The Part-Time Usher is the first point of contact for our audience members so a welcoming and helpful energy is required.

Reports to: Theater Manager 

Hours: 16 to 20 hours a week based on availability, Evenings & Weekends

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Directing Patrons to appropriate theater spaces.
  • Providing information to patrons in regards to memberships and shows currently playing in the theater.
  • Coordinate all customer complaints to FOH assistants, House Manager or Theater Manager.
  • Operate Elevator to assist the control of people traffic.
  • Escorting patrons to their assigned seats.
  • Perform pre-show theater checks to ensure theater is in a respectable manner to allow patrons in.
  • Monitor audience actions and report any disturbances that might occur during a show.
  • Report all lost and found items.
  • Assist the E:Bar bartenders in stocking the bar.
  • Responsible for taking tickets and reporting the House Count in the House Report.
  • Assist the Theater Manager or House Manager with any outstanding duties or responsibilities.
  • Participate in Annual 360 Performance Review Process

Qualifications:

  • Excellent customer service skills and able to stay calm in a fast-paced environment
  • Positive attitude and flexibility
  • Great communication skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently
  • Knowledge and/or interest in theater preferred but not required

Salary: $17.10/hour
