Producing Company

New Light Theater Project

Led by Artistic Director Sarah Norris and Producing Director Michael Aguirre, New Light Theater Project (NLTP) is an ensemble-focused theater company that strives to capture the Little Theater Movement (artistry over commerce; producing new and reimagined classic works), supporting independent and emerging artists by providing and promoting growth opportunities through exposure to new audiences. Since 2013, NLTP has mounted over 30 full productions which have received critical praise including Best of Theater 2014 (The L Magazine), inducted into Indie Theater Now's People of the Year/Indie Theater Hall of Fame, and received residencies from The Flea Theater’s Anchor Program, Woodstock Byrdcliffe Residency Fellowship, Chicago Dramatists Grafting Project, IRT 3B Residency, and the Access Theater Residency Program. NLTP is a 501(c)3 organization. NLTP places our ensemble at the center of our process, where all members, regardless of artistic role, bear weight and voice to the stories we select to tell. This process includes devising and developing new work and occasionally, bringing classical texts and revivals to life. Our mission is to create a spirit of community in all of our theatrical collaborations. It is a goal of NLTP to illuminate other artists and companies through a network of shared resources. Through our Spotlight and Darkroom Series programming, we have cultivated partnerships with artists outside our company and around the world. We believe that supporting storytelling beyond our core ensemble is a healthy way to grow and build relationships for a successful community.
